Brad Chance
Mr. Chance is an entrepreneur investor and philanthropist who began his professional career working in the office of United States Congresswoman Sue Myrick of North Carolina (2000-2001). In 2002 Mr. Chance took a trainee position at The Hartford Financial Services Group where he was exposed to all facets of the company (insurance, personal and commercial, reinsurance, annuities, life insurance, asset management, and investment allocations) In his time at The Hartford Mr. Chance worked on a concentration of values team to develop internal models for risk concentration using concentric circles for vertical and horizontal distribution of risk. Subsequently he managed a book roll for a commercial insurance program which at the time was the largest in the insurance industry. In his role leading the program Mr. Chance lead a team of underwriters, claims, loss control, auditors, and actuaries to implement and develop risk control for a nationwide program across a plethora of verticals (property, casualty, auto, workers compensation). In this role Mr. Chance was first exposed to ILS (catastrophe bonds) as an alternative means of risk transfer. Ultimately pitching The Hartford to issue a catastrophe bond for Hurricane and Earthquake coverage. In 2006 Mr. Chance left The Hartford to work for a regional brokerage headquartered out of Orlando Florida. In this role Mr. Chance was elected chair of the alternative risk committee and made partner in the firm. In 2012 Mr. Chance founded Petra Haven Capital an insurance linked securities (ILS) asset manager that engaged in three primary functions ILS asset management, investor “buy side” investment due diligence, and business development (M&A) for US domestic, and European (re)insurers. Mr. Chance is a strategic consultant with EY Canada supporting their institutional practice for ILS and (re)insurance allocations. In this role he recently completed the education and value chain disruption to directly connect risk with institutional capital for a $150bn pension fund and their distribution portfolio company. (The portfolio company is the largest US wholesale P&C operation in the United States) Mr. Chance is an approved director and officer by the Bermuda Monetary Authority for licensed reinsurers and a guest lecture in the risk management department at the University of North Carolina Charlotte. In addition to his insurance consulting and advisory activities Mr. Chance is the managing partner of a real estate investment partnership. Chris Rigdon
Chris is a 20-year insurance industry veteran who is the second generation of his family to lead an insurance operation. His career began at a large publicly held brokerage house in the City of Chicago on a small accounts underwriting desk and he then quickly transitioned middle market sales production. In 2006 he founded his own retail agency and then in 2009 he launched Forest Specialty Underwriters an MGA focusing on forest and outdoor specialty products. Chris is directly appointed by some of the largest insurers in the United States to conduct business on their behalf. Not only is Chris a pillar of his community but he also acts as a risk management consultant and risk manager for large international technology firm that supports the financial services industry. In addition to his professional activities and investments pursuits Chris commits his time to non-profit boards of directors. One of his passions is finding specialty niche products for underserved markets.Chris is a 2003 graduate of the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Speech Communication
